International Rotary Projects

Rotaplast Program.
On the international level, the Rotary Club of Lakeport has been personally involved in and financially supported the highly acclaimed Rotaplast Program . The Rotaplast program recruits teams of medical personnel, supported by Rotarian volunteers, who travel to underprivileged countries, such as Guatemala, Chile, and others, and perform surgeries specializing in facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate.  To date, three members of the Lakeport Rotary Club have traveled to Guatemala and worked as civilian volunteers in support of these medical teams.

Belize Medical Assistance Program.

In 2007 and 2008, we conducted an International Medical Assistance Projects in the impoverished Cayo District of Belize, we have provided and personally delivered medical equipment to Doctors providing prenatal and well baby clinics in the impoverished communities in the Mayan belt in that country.

Shelter San Vincente De Paul in El Salvador.

Buoyed by the success of the Belize Project, the Club initiated an International Medical Assistance Project in Cuidad Merliot, San Salvador, El Salvador.  Together with local charitable agencies and the Rotary Club of Ciudad Merliot, we equipped a residential gateway home for cancer patients while they are receiving Chemo and Radiation Cancer Therapy treatments at the hospital in San Salvador.
